How long have you had it for? I've had alopecia universalis for about 7 years now. Have you had methods of covering it up?
I noticed my first actual spot a little over 2years ago, but my hair was thinning a little before then. At the beginning, I basically kept evolving & adapting hairstyles until one day, I just couldn’t hide it anymore. The spots were too big, and I had too little hair. I had started wearing different cute hats, then decided it was time for a wig. When I’m not in a wig, I’ll wear a scarf, but that’s in my downtime.
about whether or not I should do it, because I thought everyone would be like
But then, I finally got the balls and was like
And everyone at school was just kind of like
And I was like
And then a bunch of people painted my head in art class to look like a cheesy hairstyle and I kind of just walked around like
And it was one of the scariest and biggest things I’ve ever done and I’m actually really proud of myself.
I love this post! I’ve went “public” one time with nothing on my head, and it was actually very refreshing. Of course my experience wasn’t as smooth, I got plenty of eyeballs, stares, and snickers, but I didn’t let them phase me that day. Since then, I’ve grown attached to my scarfs & wigs. I’m addicted to the versatility! I’ve been living with Alopecia Areata for about 2 years, and predicting I have a little more ways to go before my hair is fully grown back. Stay strong, positive, and yourself!
